Why a leaf?
Leaves are the main organs of photosynthesis and transpiration.
Without a leaf, a tree can't survive.
This is what our name stems from. The idea that our leaves are necessary for a company to be successful. The more leaves a company has, the healthier it is for the planet.
We also use the idea of a leaf being the most visible part of a tree - our Leaf app aims to provide this kind of transparency and visibility into a companies background and reveal information that might otherwise be hard to find.
Overall, a healthy company is a sustainable and ethical one, and in turn is healthy for the planet. Just like a tree with lots of green leaves.
An unhealthy company is an unsustainable and unethical one, and mimics an unhealthy dieing tree, releasing carbon back into the atmosphere.
Target User
The ideal customer is a consumer who has recently realised their shopping is purely based on how something looks, instead of the effects the products might be having on the environment and people. This consumer wants to change, but finds it hard to access info with ease, especially when out physically shopping.
Someone willing to make changes for their core values will be the user of the app.
Community
Leaf has created a way for communities to come closer together and grow in size at the same time. It gives users the opportunity to support other consumers trying to make a positive change, by leaving alternative DIY or Community suggestions. This will increase awareness of community spaces, and create a community of DIY fixers and upcyclers all helping eachother out.

Why is Leaf important?
There is a continuing shift of people wanting to be more sustainable. More and more we are seeing companies switch their environmental policies, aswell as more consumers being made aware of concerning situations on our planet. However we can do more to help. There is currently no clear place where all this info is shown, and nothing that encourages consumers to research a companies background, or think twice before buying. We hope that Leaf can make it as easy and seamless as possible to make alternate choices which will have a positive impact on our planet.
Company Policies
By exposing companies that are operating unsustainably and unethically. We hope to change their attitudes and policies towards their products - and in turn help reduce their nagative impacts on the planet.

Leaf Aims
Leaf aims to seamlessly bring together a wealth of information and transparency from companies, so that consumers can quickly make make a choice with confidence.

Consumer Choice
Consumer choice is the first change Leaf wants to make. We want to make it easier to get the information you need to help you make a decision based on your values.

Leaf is constantly learning from consumers and updating it's database with new transparent information
It will be imperative to work alongside other companies and organisations that can help support 'Leaf'. This will be useful for both funding and data. Greenpeace is a NGO with officers in over 55 countries and will help promote and create data for the application.
Collaboration
Leaf will be marketed through both Greenpeace pushing it as a change of lifestyle that needs to happen, and our own adverts mainly focused on online shopping apps and websites, where most of our target audience will be.
The aim is that once it gains traction with a large enough community, users will start sharing there leaf level and info they have found out from the app to help spread the word.
Marketing
Data Operation
Data for this will need to be stored on its own servers. This will be outside funded, and may use servers currently implace with another company.
The data will be gathered by both Greenpeace and other organisations willing to co-operate. As well as users who will be a providing a large part of the leaf scores and alternate section ideas/recommendations.
Regulation
Any scores towards companies and products leaf scores will need to be regulated and backed up.
Scores created by us and collaborators will be backed up with evidence and cross-checked.
User scores will also be processed before they can be submitted to confirm the information and score is fair and appropiate.
