Leaf Score
So what is the leaf score?
The 'Leaf score' will rank companies (and their specific products) on both how ethical, and how sustainable they are. The score will be created from numerous user reviews, which have to be backed up with sources. Thus creating a sustainability index that consumers can rely on.
By building this community, not only does it help steer consumers in the right direction but it also encourages companies to do so to. As they will also be looking to get the highest possible Leaf score, just as they would be wanting the highest possible rating on something like Amazon in order to increase their sales.
Material Source
Where the raw materials are sourced and how efficient is the process they use? Do they use the best possible method?
Worker Ethics
What is the environment like for the workers? Does it pass regulations and allow for a good quality of life?
Energy Usage
Do they use renewable energy? Have they helped developed these renewable energy plants? What other sources might they use?
Shipping
Do they transport and ship items as efficiently as possible. What is their carbon footprint from this? Are they using the most sustainable method possible?
Packaging
Do they use eco-friendly packaging with minimal plastic use? Is there unnecessary wastage?
