Make a choice.

Choose Alternative

Our 3 main alternative options - DIY ideas instead of buying a new product - Community spaces to repair current item, or stop the need to even buy the product - Second hand versions of the product from Ebay and Facebook market searches.

Why not try and make the product you're trying to buy? We understand some may be too complex and time consuming. But often, especially with food and simple woodwork, you can make a cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative from home.

Or if you were looking at upgrading to a new TV because your old one broke, why not try and fix your old one, or upcycle it into something new.

This is the kind of knowledge that Leaf wants to provide you with, so that you can quickly find more sustainable choices at the tap of a button.

Do It Yourself

Community

Sometimes DIY options may not be possible on more complex or unique products. This is where the community alternative steps in.

In this section you can find all of the community hotspots in your area. From libraries to bike repair hubs. This is a great way to gain access to the product you want, without the cost or environmental impact.

Or if it is a community repair space, you may gain access to the tools required to the do it yourself, and repair your old product.

Second Hand

Finally, if both other options aren't right, you can choose to buy second hand. This helps keep products like clothing in a circular loop and reduces the demand for manufacturers, which in turn reduces their negative impacts.

Leaf searches through the main second-hand marketplaces such as eBay and Facebook marketplace and finds the best match to what you're looking for. It can also recommend nearby charity shops that may be relevant.

If this option also isn't right, then Leaf does a market comparison. It finds products similar to what you are looking for from different brands or areas. The user can then compare each of their leaf scores, and choose the best one for them.
