Brief 04 - Reduce Shopping
I began this project with a fairly open mindset so as not to limit the potential for a new and innovative final product.
I started by looking at aspects from my last project 'Seelife', which was a product that made it easier for anyone with a smartphone to capture more immersive and captivating footage of nature. The aim of which was to bring more awareness and understanding to different parts of the natural world. Thereby encouraging and spreading awareness of climate change and other threats facing our planet.
This research took me to one of the main issues I have found with today's society. Human's desire for comfort. Whether that be driving comfier cars, having the latest TV or wanting the tastiest burger.
A mindmap showed that shopping and spending habits are a huge source of our usage of fossil fuels, and increased plastic and other toxic material wastage. Further research confirmed this was in fact a huge problem facing us, and currently at its highest point after Covid-19 restrictions causing increases in spending to feel some sense of satisfaction.
